Album of the Week - "Coming Up For Air" by Kodaline

Album of the Week - "Coming Up For Air" by Kodaline

Kodaline have well and truly taken the music industry by storm over the last year or two, selling countless records, gigging in numerous towns and cities and most importantly, remaining incredibly humble throughout!

This summer marks a huge milestone for the band (particularly in Ireland) as they gear up to play a massive headline show in Marlay Park, Dublin, alongside Jess Glynne and Walking on Cars for what promises to be an absolutely epic event!

To highlight that gig, we have decided to give away one copy of their album "Coming Up For Air". Our Album of the Week features hits such as 'Honest', 'The One', 'Ready' and 'Love Will Set You Free' to name but a few!

All you have to do is simply send me a tweet @Eoin_Beatty with the hashtag #ComingUpForAir and I will let you know if you have won later tonight!

Also, will I be seeing you at the gig? Tweet me and let me know if you have your ticket or if you have seen the guys on a previous tour! Here's a little taster of what to expect....

Song of the Day: "Reckless" by Gareth Emery ft Wayward Daughter

Song of the Day: "Reckless" by Gareth Emery ft Wayward Daughter

I have to admit, I was a little surprised when I found out that these two artists were collaborating but I'll be just as quick to admit that it's actually a cracking tune!

As we head into the summer season, I can easily see this track being played in clubs and on beaches all around the globe, because it truly is a dance anthem!

Also, check out the official music video below - it's incredible! Even just scrolling through the comments on YouTube, it's clear to see that people are blown away by some of the scenes in the video.

I remember seeing Wayward Daughter supporting Janet Devlin over in Dublin a couple of years ago and they were absolutely insane! I haven't managed to see Gareth Emery live yet but have been a huge fan of his music for quite some time, so this collab really went down well with me personally!

It was the debut single from his album "100 Reasons to Live" which is out now! Enjoy.

Song of the Day - "Fine Print" by Rosa Nutty

Song of the Day - "Fine Print" by Rosa Nutty

If you happened to read my interview with Rosa Nutty here on View From The Stalls back in February, you will recall how much I was raving about her debut EP 'Bunny', so I thought, why not feature a track from that EP?

To be honest, I could have chosen any of the songs, but decided to go with "Fine Print" not only because of the superb lyrics and vocals but also because of the music video too!

Judging by Rosa's activity on social media, she has been extremely busy over the last while and I know her gig in the Bello Bar in Dublin not so long ago went down a treat, so people will be keeping a close eye and ear out for more upcoming dates, but speaking of gig news, Rosa will be launching her single Sea Salt with a show in The Grand Social on June 29th!

Have a listen to "Fine Print" below and let me know what you think!

Gig Guide: Scoops live in Whelan's Dublin

Scoops Play Dublin Main Stage on June 4th

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; I went to the launch of Scoops' EP "Scenes of Joy" a few months back which took place upstairs in Whelan's and it was one of the best gigs I have been to over the past year. The energy and charisma that the guys have on stage and their ability to win over a crowd is admirable.

They have enjoyed huge success with the EP and that can be judged by the fact that within 8 months they can move from the upstairs venue to the main stage in the iconic Whelan's!

The lads have been touring the UK recently and just by looking at social media, they appear to have gotten a superb reaction regardless of where they played.

The gig on June 4th will be their largest headline show to date and it promises to a cracker, so if you are around, you should definitely pop along (I know I'll be there!) - for more information log on to www.scoopsmusic.com

Check out their track "Best of You" below!

Song of the Day - "Hey Mister" by Rhea Monet

Song of the Day - "Hey Mister" by Rhea Monet

Currently residing in Los Angeles to pursue her music career, Rhea Monet's hard work is beginning to pay off!

She is continuing to grow as an artist with every passing day and by working with the very talented producer and mixing engineer, Amir Swain, she can focus on her craft and delivering it to the world.

The track I have chosen for my Song of the Day is her latest single "Hey Mister" which was released a couple of months ago and it's incredibly catchy! You can check out the official music video below!

I have to say, personally, I'm looking forward to keeping an eye on Monet because she appears to be working towards something special and I'm sure this won't be the last time that we'll be featuring her music on View From The Stalls.

Song of the Day: "Back To Where I Begun" by Motions

Video For "Back To Where I Begun" Officially Released

On the 31st of March, Dublin based band Motions released their debut single "Back To Where I Begun" to a great reception, but just yesterday, a couple of months on from the track's official release, the guys dropped the official video to accompany it on YouTube and Facebook!

Motions worked on the video with the guys from Crooked Gentlemen, saying that it was great fun to make and I have to say that the end product is extremely professional for a debut release and really compliments the superb single!

You can keep up to date with the band's progress on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MotionsMusicOfficial/timeline

And, of course, check out the video below and let me know what you think on Twitter, @Eoin_Beatty

Badger Hill Announce Split on Facebook

Dublin Based Band Badger Hill Announce Split on Facebook

Definitely one of my favourite bands on the Dublin circuit, Badger Hill, announced that they would be going their separate ways on their official Facebook account a couple of days ago, but also revealed that they would be playing a final show on the 3rd of June, to effectively go out with a bang. Have a read of the official statement below.

"This is a communication from the Badgers. We're very sad to announce that after a lot of thought we've decided to go our separate ways in a few weeks' time.
The decision was far from easy and we've loved every bit of the past few years, recording our two EPs with Stuart Gray, and our most recent single with Ross Fortune. Even more, we've loved every one of the gigs – from sell out crowds in Whelan's and The Grand Social to empty gigs in The Button Factory.
Thanks for all the love over the years. It has been an amazing couple of years and we're very grateful for all of the support. We hope we've given you some great nights out and some music that you can listen to after we're gone!We have one last gig to play together! On Friday 3 June, we'll be playing the Odessa Club to launch our single 'Chosen', and we'd love to see all of you who have been there to support us through the years, for one last time.
We'll be joined on the night by our long time friends Heroes in Hiding, who we've been gigging with since close to the start, so what better way to end! Also supporting on the night is the lovely Gavin Davis. Come join us for a whopper send off session.
Join the event on Facebook: http://bit.ly/1WKrGs8."

Check out the guys' superb track "New Springfield" below, and make sure that if you are around next Friday, to pop along to Odessa for what promises to be a great gig!

Song of the Day - "X" by Scarlet

Song of the Day - "X" by Scarlet

I have a sneaking suspicion that we will be hearing a lot more of Scarlet over the next couple of months, so I want to introduce to you her debut single "X", taken from her forthcoming EP "Phoenix" which is due to be released this Summer!

Scarlet attended the prestigious BRIT School, where she was a member of an alternative rock band shortlisted for Sony ATV’s ‘Best Songwriting’ Award.

Once leaving school, Scarlet focused on her craft, playing gigs all over London and in 2015, with the help of professional songwriter, producer and musician, Jessica Sharman, she collated her first collection of songs, to much acclaim, leading her to a publishing deal. Her ability was then spotted by Resolution, a company working with new talent, where she collaborated on the track "Sherlock", released on Resolution's album "Round One" in February of this year!

Scarlet's influences include the likes of Florence Welch, Ed Sheeran, Mumford and Sons and Oh Wonder. Her track "X" not only takes us on a personal journey but a musical journey also; starting simply with guitar and vocal, building nicely with the piano as the chorus looms and as the song progresses, she shows off more of her vocal power.

Radio support so far comes from BBC Radio Cambridge, Radio 6’s Tom Robinson and Amazing Radio.  Scarlet has recently recorded live sessions for BBC Cambridge and The Breeze.

She also has an upcoming gig: July 21st Secret Garden Party - BBC Introducing Stage @ Abbots Ripton, Cambridgeshire.

Gig Guide: Keywest Announce Dublin Show

Following on from the huge success of their album 'Joyland', Keywest have announced that they will take to the stage in the iconic Whelan's in Dublin on the 6th of July!

The guys have plenty of stuff going on at the minute with new singles and albums planning to be released, which of course we will feature here on the blog!

But in the meantime, make sure you pop along to Whelan's on July 6th for what promises to be an electric performance! Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am.

Song of the Day - "Robbers" by The 1975

Song of the Day - "Robbers" by The 1975

I guess now, with the band's recent success of their latest album (I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It), "Robbers" is kind of considered to be one of their 'older' tracks, but nonetheless, it is, without a doubt, one of my favourite releases ever!

The guys' current tour has been met with nothing but praise, regardless of what city they've played in, and I know myself, the sold out gig in the 3 Arena in Dublin was considered one of the best live performances of the year so far.

Personally speaking, I have to say I really do like their new album, but in the same breath, there's just something special about the previous one, the songs never seem to get old!

For those of you who haven't heard this track before, check out the video below, and for those of you who are fans of the band (like myself), let's remind ourselves of its greatness!

Song of the Day - "Soundcheck" by Catfish and the Bottlemen

Song of the Day - "Soundcheck" by Catfish and the Bottlemen

For literally the last three weeks or so, my Spotify has only been playing about 12 songs, all of which are courtesy of Catfish and the Bottlemen.

They absolutely smashed their live gig up in Dublin recently and anyone else who was there or has been to a gig on their current tour, will agree that their energy on stage is out of this world!

I could have picked a whole host of songs to feature, but "Soundcheck" is certainly one of my favourites, along with "Hourglass" and "Glasgow"!

Let me know if you went to see the guys on tour, tweet me any pictures you have of the gig to @Eoin_Beatty!

Enjoy!

Song of the Day: Max Milner "Like Me Slightly"

Song of the Day: Max Milner "Like Me Slightly"

I first stumbled across this guy a couple of weeks ago when I was just browsing through Spotify one day and I have to say, I immediately was blown away by his talent.

This song is the third track on his debut EP "Deleted", which is available on  and it's by far one of my favourite songs that Milner has written.

Album of the Week: Walking on Cars "Everything This Way"

Album of the Week: Walking on Cars "Everything This Way"

Anybody who knows me will be well aware of how fond I am of Walking On Cars' debut album "Everything This Way" so it's no surprise that I have chosen it as this week's Album of the Week.

Walking on Cars are a five piece alternative rock band from County Kerry in Ireland and have well and truly set the music industry alight in recent months.

Their first single from the album, "Speeding Cars" has been played on virtually every radio station in the country and the second single "Ship Goes Down" is quickly following suit!

The raw nature of Patrick Sheehy's voice, exquisite lyrics and flawless harmonies make this album a solid 8.5/10 in my opinion.

The success has quickly spread overseas too and the guys have a number of gigs lined up, particularly in the UK! You can check their website www.walkingoncars.com for more details of those dates.

For Irish fans, well you certainly are in for a treat! The band will be playing alongside Kodaline and Jess Glynne in Marlay Park on July 8th, rocking out a couple of festivals over the Summer and then of course, on the 12th of November, their very own headline gig in the 13,000 capacity 3 Arena!

For anybody who may be new to Walking on Cars, you can have a listen to the aforementioned debut single "Speeding Cars" right here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5h4yJ-BpL4

Music Premiere: Corrina Jaye "Could You Be Mine"

Music Premiere: Corrina Jaye "Could You Be Mine"

2013 proved to be a huge year for Corrina Jaye, releasing her debut EP and debut single which was met by critical acclaim. Now, almost three years on, the independent singer/songwriter from Ireland will be hoping to build on that success.

Her second studio EP is now available on iTunes and the music video for her single 'Could You Be Mine' has just been released and we are delighted to feature it here on View from the Stalls.

Her music has drawn comparisons from Lana Del Rey to Florence and The Machine to Jessie Ware and her name has caused quite a stir in the media with Dwayne Woods from the Irish Daily Star claiming that she is "destined for the big time".

It certainly will be interesting to keep an eye on her progress and if 'Could You Be Mine' is anything to go by then we are in for a treat.

Outstanding lyrics and a simple, yet effective music video ranks very highly in my books! Check it out for yourself at the link below!

Song of the Day - Craig Gallagher "Without You"

Song of the Day - Craig Gallagher "Without You

When I first seen Craig Gallagher up on stage a year or two ago, I knew that he had that something special. A superb voice, exceptional lyrics and an art for story-telling!

Seeing him perform in The Joiners in Southampton with Gavin James a couple of nights ago actually felt like Deja Vu in many ways, except for the fact that I believe he has gotten so much better.

I expect that we will be hearing a lot more of this guy in the not too distant future.

Without You is one of the songs off his EP, and from experience, is one of the favourites amongst crowds! Have a listen!
